Just the other day I went with my shih tzus to the vet for a parvo injection. Both George and Eve are similar in weight there is only a variation of 3 pounds, George weighs 14 pounds and Eve 17 lbs. What perplexes me is that they get so energized leaving to meet their veteran, they adore each one fawning all over them. Eve insisted on moving in first by provoking such a fuss, George followed with his tail between his legs.

George was the first in and barked on his way out after the vet took a look at him, he was the happiest dog in the world. Then it all went terribly wrong Eve started to throw up all the ingredients in her stomach. Our shih tzu began to lie down and point blank refused to move at all. We were obviously worried at this stage and all we could do was wait and expect the best. Things didnt get better at all with poor Eve coggling all over the place, it was almost as if someone had injected her with a tranquilizer dart she was in so much discomfort.

The veterinary doctor quickly reacted with a steroid injections for our shitzu. We waited to see if this would offset the vaccine. She started to breathe strangely which troubled us a lot. John then suggested us that we get her to the specialist dog hospital in our area so they could offer her 24/7 aid. At this phase we could only pray that everything would work out.

The dog clinic took very good care of her and made sure she got her endovenous drip and oxygen as well. I dont believe the lovely people in the hospital thought our shih tzu dog would do well but we were positive that it would all end up for the best. Tender loving care in addition the hospital drugs were her firm diet for 4 days whilst there. What took place was she suffered from anaphylaxis shock, if you have ever seen someone eat peanuts and is allergic then you know what I am talking about. But, my little girl came through this, incredibly. She is recovering at home.

Whilst recovering she looks to spend a lot of time drinking water and dozing off whilst she improves each day. Her road to recuperate has been an arduous one but she will be in normal state within a couple of weeks, of that I am 100 per cent positive. It has been a steep learning curve these last few months.

I have learned that the shih tsu breed are the no one to react to them. For the last few weeks I have been campaigning to get full "full disclosure".It really cost us a lot of money we could ill afford to spend however we would do anything for our dog.I really believe strongly though that people should never have to witness what happenned to us.
